Arvigo Maya Abdominal Therapy

"We do not cure disease. We work in the realm of divine science, removing the obstructions and deterrents to Nature's Healing Force." - Rosita Arvigo

Arvigo Maya Abdominal Therapy

The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy™ are founded on the ancient healing traditions of the Maya people of Central America. Dr. Rosita Arvigo developed these techniques which bear her name. This therapy grew out of her apprenticeship with the great Maya Shaman of Belize Don Elijio Panti with whom she apprenticed with for 13 years. Don Elijio believed that a woman's centre is her uterus. If it is out of balance, then her entire life, emotionally, physically and spiritually will be out of balance.

This is a therapy that brings old world traditions and modern world practices together. The health and position of the pelvic and abdominal organs are addressed as well as any physical and emotional congestion or holding patterns within these organs. External non-invasive manipulation is used to gently palpate and reposition the uterus and digestive organs thus restoring the flow of blood, lymph, nerve and chi (life force) while helping the body back into a state of homeostasis (balance). All clients are also taught self-care massage in order to complete their healing at home.

Arvigo therapy brings a holistic approach to healing which includes abdominal and sacral massage, castor oil applications, vaginal steaming and herbal preparations all done with prayer and intention.

Common ailments that Maya abdominal massage may be beneficial for are:

• Prolapsed or tilted uterus

• Fertility & Digestive challenges

• Difficult pregnancy and delivery

• Miscarriages

• Irregular menstrual cycles and ovulation

• Blood clots during menses and excessive bleeding

• PMS/Depression

• Bladder infections, cysts & fibroids

* This treatment is not recommended during active menstruation (after day 4 of bleed it is ok) or immediately following pelvic or abdominal surgery, during the 1st trimester of pregnancy or where an IUD, hernia, active infection or cancer is present in the pelvic region.

**Treatments are done either side of your period. If you are unsure of where you are in your cycle, it is best to have your next period then book in a day or so after your period finishes right up until 4-5 days before your period is due to start again. A perfect time to come is from approximately day 4 of cycle through until day 10 (or your ovulation).
